Google puts $4.5M toward Los Angeles small business wildfire recovery

Google Los Angeles

Google is throwing its weight behind Los Angeles small businesses that are still reeling from the January wildfires. The company announced more than $4.5 million in funding through the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity and TMC Community Capital. The goal is not only to help local businesses get back on their feet but also to prepare them for the future with stronger foundations.

To that end, Google recently hosted the “Rebuild LA: Small Business Tech Fair” alongside LA County DEO and TMC Community Capital. The event gave entrepreneurs access to AI-driven tools and training, helping them reconnect with customers, modernize day-to-day operations, and brace for whatever comes next. For many business owners, the idea of recovery now means looking forward, not simply restoring what was lost.

This investment is part of a larger $15 million commitment from Google, YouTube, and Google.org to support relief efforts in greater Los Angeles. That broader initiative has reached schools, teachers, creative industries, and now the small businesses that shape neighborhood identity and keep local economies alive.

By backing both immediate recovery efforts and longer-term resilience, Google is signaling that it wants to play an active role in how Los Angeles rebuilds after disaster. And that is very much appreciated.
