Today at IFA 2025 in Berlin, Acer introduced the Chromebook Plus Spin 514. Notably, it’s the company’s first Chromebook powered by the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor. This new chip includes an integrated NPU that brings Google’s AI features directly onto the device. For Chromebook users, that essentially means faster multitasking, smarter workflows, and on-device AI tools that do not always depend on the cloud.

Acer designed the Chromebook Plus Spin 514 as a premium convertible that still manages long-lasting endurance. The company claims up to 17 hours of battery life, making it one of the most durable options in the Chromebook space. The 14-inch screen is available in two versions, WQXGA+ (2800×1800) or WUXGA (1920×1200), both with touch capability and support for USI 2.0 styluses. It also has a tough build that meets MIL-STD 810H standards, complete with Gorilla Glass and reinforced ports to handle daily wear and tear.

The focus here is very much on AI. ChromeOS now includes tools such as Smart grouping, which organizes tabs and documents automatically, and an on-device image editor. A dedicated Quick Insert key provides instant access to AI tools, while Lens integration makes it easy to pull information from images and videos. Buyers also get a one-year Google AI Pro subscription that unlocks advanced Gemini features and includes 2TB of Google cloud storage.

The Kompanio Ultra processor pairs with an Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU to support creative workloads like editing and rendering. Acer says the efficiency of the chip allows for smooth performance without sacrificing battery life.

Physically, the Chromebook Plus Spin 514 weighs just under three pounds and measures 15.5mm thin. Its 360-degree hinge allows laptop, tablet, tent, and display modes, and Acer claims it is durable enough to withstand 25,000 open and close cycles. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual USB-C ports, an optional backlit keyboard, and a webcam with AI-driven enhancements round out the package.

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 will be available in North America this October starting at $699.99.
