JBL is turning things up with its latest party speaker, the PartyBox 720. With 800W of JBL Pro Sound, AI-powered audio tuning, and a flashy lightshow, this is the company’s most powerful battery-powered speaker yet. At $1,099, it is far from cheap, but JBL is clearly aiming at those who want the ultimate portable party machine.
The PartyBox 720 is loaded with two 9-inch woofers and dome tweeters that push out clean highs and deep bass even when cranked up. JBL added AI Sound Boost that works in real time to optimize the sound, keeping distortion low and making tracks hit harder. For those who want more, the speaker supports Auracast, so you can link it with other compatible models to build a stereo setup or an entire wall of sound.

Battery life is another big selling point. JBL says it can run up to 15 hours on a charge, and fast charging will give you two more hours of playback in just ten minutes. Dual replaceable batteries are included, so if you keep extras on hand, the music does not have to stop. The design has also been updated with sturdier wheels and a built-in handle that make it easier to roll from one spot to another.

The PartyBox 720 is not just about sound. Its built-in lightshow can be customized through the JBL PartyBox app. Whether you want a starry vibe or full-on strobe effects, the lights sync to the beat and add to the atmosphere. On top of that, the unit has IPX4 splash resistance, so a spilled drink will not ruin the fun.

Connectivity is handled through USB-C, a combo Jack-XLR, and Auracast. There are also two XLR inputs, which let you connect a microphone, guitar, or DJ console if you want live performances to mix with your playlist.

Pre-orders are live now on JBL.com, with a wide release scheduled for September 21. If you want a speaker that can fill a backyard, a gym, or even a basketball court with both sound and light, the PartyBox 720 is ready to do the job.
