Linux hardware company TUXEDO Computers has announced the new BM15, a 15.6-inch business laptop that feels refreshingly practical in a market full of sealed-up machines and questionable AI gimmicks. Instead of chasing trendy nonsense, the company focused on things many business users and Linux fans still care about, like smart card authentication, LTE connectivity, upgradeable hardware, and actual repairability.
The new TUXEDO BM15 is aimed at office users, government agencies, and folks who want a dependable Linux notebook without giving up modern features. It weighs about 1.8kg and packs an Intel Core 5 120U processor with support for as much as 64GB DDR5 RAM. TUXEDO says the laptop is designed for everyday productivity, multitasking, light media editing, and general office work.

One feature that immediately stands out is the built-in smart card reader. That is something you rarely see on consumer laptops anymore, but it remains important in corporate and government environments where secure authentication matters. The BM15 supports ISO/IEC 7816 compliant smart cards, including PIV, OpenPGP, and PKI/FIDO cards.
Connectivity looks solid too. Users get Thunderbolt 4, wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and optional 4G LTE support for mobile internet access. That LTE option could make this machine appealing for road warriors who work away from reliable Wi-Fi.

The BM15 also pushes back against the disposable laptop trend. TUXEDO says users can upgrade RAM, SSD storage, Wi-Fi modules, and LTE hardware. The keyboard itself is modular and repairable, while the battery can be replaced externally without much hassle. Even better, the company says repair and upgrade work performed carefully will not void the warranty. Imagine that.
The display sounds decent as well. The 15.6-inch panel offers roughly 400 nits brightness and over 90 percent sRGB coverage, which should be good enough for productivity work and even some light photo editing. The screen also folds flat to 180 degrees.

Like other TUXEDO laptops, the BM15 ships with Linux support fully baked in. Buyers can choose TUXEDO OS or Ubuntu 24.04, both with optional full disk encryption. Windows 11 is available too for folks stuck living in that world.
Pricing starts at 965 EUR before VAT and import duties. That base configuration includes the Intel Core 5 120U processor, 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD, and TUXEDO OS preinstalled. Pre-orders are open here now, and shipping is expected to begin later this month.
