ADATA has introduced two new portable SSDs built for speed and durability, the SD820 and the SC735. These external drives are designed for people who need dependable storage in tough conditions, whether that means outdoor shoots, travel, or just everyday mobile work.
The SD820 is the heavy hitter of the two. It delivers up to 2000MB/s read and write speeds over USB 3.2 Gen2 x2, making it about twenty times faster than a traditional external hard drive. Weighing just 26.5 grams, it packs impressive toughness, withstanding 1.22-meter drops and carrying an IP68 rating for waterproofing and dustproofing. That means it can survive being submerged in a meter of water for an hour. Available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, it’s aimed squarely at content creators and photographers who need reliable storage they can toss in a bag and trust on location.
The SC735, by contrast, focuses on being ultra-portable. At only 13.6 grams, it’s about the size of a pair of wireless earbuds and includes a retractable USB-C connector so no extra cable is needed. Despite its small size, it still offers military-grade drop protection and read/write speeds of 1050/1000MB/s. ADATA says it works with everything from iPhone to gaming consoles, and it comes in 1TB and 2TB versions. It’s a practical option for everyday backups and fast file transfers without adding bulk.
Pricing and availability details remain under wraps, so buyers will have to wait a bit longer to see where these new drives land in the market. For now, ADATA is clearly signaling that the SD820 and SC735 are meant to deliver both performance and durability, but the real test will be whether the final cost makes them compelling enough for creators, travelers, and everyday users alike.
