Bose has introduced the second generation of its QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, building on the reputation of one of its most popular product lines. The new version of the wireless/wired headphones continues the focus on strong noise cancellation, balanced audio, and all-day comfort, while adding a list of improvements aimed at making the experience even better.

One of the headline features is an updated adaptive noise cancellation system that reacts more naturally to changes in your environment. When sudden sounds like sirens or trains appear, the adjustments in Aware Mode feel smoother, keeping the music or dialogue consistent. Users now also have the ability to completely switch noise cancellation off or adjust it manually in the Bose app for a more personal listening experience.

For those who want maximum audio quality, the addition of wired USB-C lossless playback is a big upgrade. This unlocks uncompressed 16-bit sound at either 44.1kHz or 48kHz, preserving the full detail of recordings. It also lowers latency, which makes the headphones better suited for gaming and video. Another new feature is Cinema Mode, which creates a wider soundstage and brings dialogue forward, not only improving movies but also enhancing podcasts and audiobooks.

Battery life has been pushed further, with up to 30 hours available during regular use, 23 with Immersive Audio active, and an impressive 45 with noise cancellation switched off. The headphones also charge while in use through USB-C, so long trips and workdays are easier to manage. Smarter on-head detection means the headphones automatically power on when worn, and they enter a deep sleep mode when set aside, saving battery for months at a time.

Design changes include polished metal accents and new color options such as Driftwood Sand and Midnight Violet. Comfort remains a priority, with plush ear cushions and an adjustable headband designed for long sessions without fatigue. The headphones fold neatly into their carrying case for portability.

Connectivity has also been refined. The QC Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) support Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint pairing and work with AAC, SBC, and aptX Adaptive codecs. Android users benefit from Google Fast Pair, and Spotify Tap allows instant access to playlists. Firmware updates and additional customization are handled through the Bose app.

Preorders are available today on Amazon, with general availability starting October 2, 2025. The headphones are priced at $449, positioning them at the high end of the market but promising a polished mix of sound quality, noise control, and comfort.
