Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 11 series, and this year’s upgrades go far beyond the usual performance bump. The new family includes the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, all powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 processor.
In addition to improved cameras and faster charging, the Pixel 11 lineup introduces HiLight, a colorful notification system built around the camera flash. Google is also promising enhanced durability, faster on-device Gemini performance, and seven years of software support.
Preorders for the Google Pixel 11 series begin today, August 12. The phones will arrive in stores on August 20.
Google Tensor G6 brings faster performance and Gemini AI
Every Pixel 11 phone runs on Google Tensor G6, the company’s fastest and most powerful mobile processor to date.
Google says the upgraded CPU delivers 25 percent faster web browsing and 15 percent quicker app launches. Tensor G6 also includes 50 percent more TPU computing power for artificial intelligence workloads.
Paired with the latest Gemini Nano model, the chip can reportedly process on-device AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster while consuming up to 3.5 times less energy.
Google did not design Tensor G6 solely for benchmark bragging rights. The processor powers the Pixel 11 series’ proactive Gemini features, computational photography, and other experiences that rely on the company’s artificial intelligence models.
Security is getting an upgrade, too. Tensor G6 works alongside the new Titan M3 security chip to provide what Google calls its strongest smartphone defense system yet. That includes bringing post-quantum cryptography to secure boot.
Pixel 11 has a thinner camera bar and new 48MP sensor
The standard Google Pixel 11 features a refined design with a camera bar that is 40 percent thinner than before.
When paired with a Made by Google case, the phone is virtually bumpless. That should make it easier to slide into a pocket while eliminating the annoying wobble that occurs when some phones are placed on a flat surface.
Pixel 11 includes a bright Actua display, a satin metal frame, and a polished glass back. It will be available in four colors: Pistachio, Hibiscus, Frost, and Obsidian.
Google has also given the Pixel 11 a significant camera upgrade. Its new 48-megapixel main sensor offers 56 percent greater light sensitivity, which should produce better photos and videos in darker environments.
The phone’s 5x telephoto camera now supports up to 30x Super Zoom with help from the Tensor G6 processor.
Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL offer 120x Pro Zoom
Google’s premium models return in two sizes with the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL.
Both phones have a Super Actua display capable of reaching 3,600 nits of peak brightness. Google says a new anti-scratch coating provides more than twice the scratch resistance of the previous generation.
The Pixel 11 Pro camera system includes a new main sensor that Google describes as its best smartphone camera yet. The redesigned 48-megapixel telephoto camera has a larger sensor with 30 percent better light sensitivity.
Portrait Mode is now available at 5x magnification, giving photographers more flexibility when framing a subject. Pro Zoom extends the camera’s maximum range to 120x using Tensor G6 and Google’s latest imaging models.
Night Sight should be considerably quicker as well. Google says its updated image signal processor, redesigned software, and improved sensors allow the Pixel 11 Pro models to capture Night Sight images up to 4.5 times faster without sacrificing quality.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL will be sold in Canyon, Fog, Olive, and an all-matte Obsidian finish.
HiLight delivers notifications without another screen
HiLight is one of the Pixel 11 Pro series’ most interesting additions.
Available on the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, HiLight uses colored LEDs around the camera flash to provide information while the phone is lying face down.
When using Gemini, the lights can display different patterns to show whether the assistant is listening, thinking, or responding. Users can also assign custom colors to important contacts, making it possible to identify certain incoming calls without looking at the screen.
Google plans to expand HiLight over time. Future capabilities will include message notifications from favorite contacts.
It is a clever idea that could help users stay informed without constantly picking up their phones. Of course, its usefulness will ultimately depend on how widely Google supports it across apps and notifications.
Pixel 11 series supports faster wired and wireless charging
All Pixel 11 phones start with 256GB of storage and feature Google’s magnetic Pixelsnap technology.
The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro gain built-in Qi2.2 compatibility with wireless charging at up to 25W. The Pixel 11 Pro XL supports Google’s fastest wired charging in the lineup, with the company claiming that a 15-minute charge can provide up to 15 hours of battery life.
Actual charging speeds and battery results will vary based on usage, temperature, accessories, and other conditions.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold is thinner, lighter, and more durable
Google also introduced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, its latest attempt to deliver a premium foldable phone without making too many durability compromises.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is almost 10 percent lighter and approximately 1mm thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It also has slimmer display bezels and will be offered in Obsidian and Olive.
Despite the thinner construction, Google claims the new model is three times more durable than last year’s Pixel Fold.
The phone retains an IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating while adding a glass-fiber composite back cover designed to be extremely difficult to crack. It also has a new gearless hinge and an outer Super Actua display protected by ceramic cover glass.
Google says the redesigned hinge provides a larger bend radius, while a thicker glass layer improves the appearance of the inner-display crease.
Both screens are 20 percent brighter than those on the previous generation, with peak brightness reaching 3,600 nits.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold adds 30W charging and Qi2.2
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold supports 30W wired charging and can reportedly reach a 50 percent charge in around 30 minutes.
Wireless charging is also 20 percent faster than on the previous Pixel Fold, thanks to built-in Qi2.2 support at up to 25W. Google says the phone offers more than 24 hours of battery life under typical conditions.
Inside, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold combines Tensor G6 with 16GB of RAM. It includes the same Gemini Intelligence foundation as the rest of the Pixel 11 family, along with software features designed specifically for its larger folding display.
Sign-to-text translation comes to Pixel 11 Pro Fold
One of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s standout features is sign-to-text translation.
Developed in partnership with the Deaf community, the feature allows users to sign American Sign Language toward the front camera. Translated text then appears on the outer display through Live Transcribe or Gboard.
The foldable form factor allows the phone to stand on its own, making it easier to use the feature with either one-handed or two-handed signing.
Google has also optimized Android app bubbles for the unfolded screen. Users can turn any app into a bubble positioned near the lower-right corner, providing quick access while multitasking.
Existing Pixel Fold features such as Drag and Drop, Split Screen, Instant View, and Made You Look are returning. Google is adding two new Made You Look animations as well.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold receives a new 48MP camera
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold includes a new 48-megapixel main camera and a telephoto camera with up to 30x Super Zoom.
It also supports new Pixel 11 camera features such as Magic Capture and Camera Looks. Magic Capture is designed to help photograph moving subjects at the right moment, while Camera Looks lets users customize the visual style of their images.
Although the foldable does not match the Pixel 11 Pro’s 120x maximum zoom, its camera upgrade should make it a more capable option for buyers who want a folding device without giving up Pixel photography features.
Google Pixel 11 price and release date
The Google Pixel 11 series is available to preorder beginning August 12 and will reach stores on August 20.

Every Pixel 11 phone comes with seven years of operating-system upgrades, security updates, and Pixel Drops. The Pro models also include six months of Google AI Pro, 5TB of cloud storage, and Google Health Premium.
With prices starting at $899, the Pixel 11 is no longer positioned as an affordable flagship. Google is instead betting that better cameras, deeper Gemini integration, longer software support, and practical hardware additions such as HiLight will be enough to justify the cost.
