Logitech has announced the MX Master 4, a wireless mouse aimed at professional and business users. It is the first MX model with customizable haptic feedback, which can provide tactile confirmation during scrolling, navigation, and shortcuts. Whether that feedback improves a workflow will depend on the software and how each person configures the mouse.
The Actions Ring uses Logi Options+ to display app-specific shortcuts on screen. Logitech claims it can save up to 33 percent of a user’s time and reduce repetitive mouse movements by 63 percent, but those figures will depend on the assigned shortcuts and workflow. Users can create commands for software such as Photoshop and Excel, and the feature requires Logitech’s configuration app.
Logitech says a redesigned antenna, new chip, and USB-C receiver provide twice the wireless reliability of the previous model. The mouse can pair with three computers or tablets, while Logi Options+ Flow can move files between supported systems. Logitech also kept the MX line’s angled shape and claims the click mechanism is 90 percent quieter than the MX Master 3.
The MagSpeed scroll wheel is rated for up to 1,000 lines per second, and the 8,000 DPI sensor is designed to work on glass and other common surfaces. Logitech rates the rechargeable battery for up to 70 days and says a one-minute charge can provide three hours of use. Those are company estimates, so battery life will vary with settings and usage.
Logitech also offers an MX Master 4 for Business edition. It supports Logitech Sync for remote monitoring and Logi Bolt for wireless connections in crowded offices. Those tools are intended to help IT teams manage deployments and firmware without visiting every desk.
Depending on the color, Logitech says the MX Master 4 uses up to 54 percent recycled plastic. It also lists a low-carbon aluminum thumbwheel, a battery made with 100 percent recycled cobalt, FSC-certified packaging, and a design intended to be easier to disassemble for recycling.
Logitech priced the MX Master 4 at $119.99 at launch and included a one-month Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Color options included Graphite, Pale Grey, and Black, with Mac-specific finishes in Space Black and White Silver.
Buyers comparing Logitech’s productivity mice can also consider the later Signature Comfort Plus mouse. It targets a different price and feature set, so haptics, software dependence, shape, and button placement matter more than the shared brand name.
