Fractal Design is rolling out a new mid-tower case called “Epoch,” and while it won’t blow your mind with RGB overload or flashy gimmicks, it just might be exactly what your next build needs. It’s focused on airflow, has plenty of space for modern components, and looks clean enough to fit in almost any setup.
Right out of the box, Epoch keeps things cool with mesh panels on the front and top. It comes with three 120 mm Momentum fans that use liquid crystal polymer blades and proper fluid dynamic bearings. This isn’t throwaway cooling either. Actually, these are quality fans meant to keep your rig humming without sounding like a jet engine. And if you want to add more airflow, there’s room for up to six 120 mm fans or four 140 mm fans.
Hardware compatibility is solid. You’re looking at support for full-size ATX motherboards, microATX, and Mini-ITX. GPUs up to 372 mm will fit with front fans installed, or up to 345 mm if you’re going the AIO route with a front radiator. CPU coolers can be up to 170 mm tall, and the PSU can be up to 255 mm long depending on how you configure your drive trays.
Water cooling support is here too. You can stick a 280 mm or 360 mm radiator in the front, 240 mm up top, and 120 mm in the back. That’s enough flexibility for most custom loops or off-the-shelf AIOs.
Storage options aren’t an afterthought either. It comes with two drive trays that support either 3.5” or 2.5” drives (three slots total), and two additional dedicated 2.5” mounts. You get seven expansion slots, and the front I/O is actually useful. It has one USB-C (20 Gbps), two USB-A (5 Gbps), and a combo audio jack.
Looks-wise, it’s more restrained than flashy. Depending on which model you go with, you’ll get either a solid side panel, tempered glass, or tempered glass with RGB. All versions share a simple, clean aesthetic with a nice mesh pattern on the front and a little fabric pull tab that gives off a low-key high-end vibe. There’s also a small etched aluminum badge on the front.
It’s also a painless case to build in. Tool-less access for the panels, captive thumbscrews all over the place, proper cable routing with grommets and Velcro straps. Yup, folks, it’s all here. You’re not going to end up cursing in a pile of screws on your living room floor.
Fractal even throws in a full accessory box with all the screws, standoffs, rubber bumpers, zip ties, and more. Everything’s labeled and organized too, which is a nice touch.
The Epoch weighs just under 8 kg depending on the model and measures 447 x 215 x 469 mm. So it’s not a tiny case, but it’s not some absurd giant either. It fits nicely under or next to a desk and has enough room to grow with your components over time.
If you’re looking for a case that doesn’t scream for attention but delivers where it counts (airflow, build quality, and clean design) the Epoch is worth a serious look. It will be available soon in a few different styles, including black solid, tempered glass in black or white, and tempered glass with RGB. Pricing is not yet revealed.
