Kioxia brings PCIe 5.0 speed to more PCs with new EXCERIA PRO G2 and G3 SSDs

Kioxia is widening its PCIe 5.0 lineup next year with two new SSD families that should appeal to both performance seekers and everyday PC owners. The EXCERIA PRO G2 and EXCERIA G3 series arrive in late January and look ready to push storage speeds well beyond what most systems are used to.

The EXCERIA PRO G2 is the headline product. It is built for people working with AI tools, heavy creative projects, and modern games that rely on fast asset streaming. Sequential reads top out at 14,900MB/s and writes reach up to 13,700MB/s. With capacity options up to 4TB, the drive sits in Kioxia’s highest tier for personal storage. A heat spreader label is included to help keep temperatures under control without requiring a bulky heatsink.

The EXCERIA G3 series takes a more accessible route, bringing PCIe 5.0 speed into what essentially amounts to an entry class segment. Even so, the numbers are impressive. Sequential reads hit up to 10,000MB/s and writes go as high as 9,600MB/s. That gives everyday users a noticeable performance jump, especially as apps and games continue to lean on fast storage. At launch, the G3 line comes in 1TB and 2TB sizes, with a 4TB model planned later in 2026.

Together with the already available EXCERIA PLUS G4, Kioxia is now covering the full PCIe 5.0 range, which helps because the transition to this standard has been slower than many expected. High costs, heat concerns, and varying support across motherboards all played a role. A broader mix of drives should make upgrades easier for more people.

Kioxia is also highlighting its eighth generation BiCS FLASH technology paired with its CBA layout, which improves density, boosts performance, and lowers power consumption. One exception is the 1TB EXCERIA PRO G2, which does not use the newer flash, but the overall series still positions itself as the fastest personal SSD Kioxia offers.

These two new SSD families show Kioxia trying to meet a wide range of needs at a time when software, games, and AI tools are all making heavier demands on storage. If pricing lands in a reasonable place, the EXCERIA PRO G2 and EXCERIA G3 could become popular upgrades for anyone building or refreshing a PC next year.
