Google is testing yet another AI experiment, this time with a tool called Mixboard. Available now as a public beta in the U.S. through Google Labs, Mixboard is an AI-powered concepting board that aims to help people brainstorm and visualize ideas with both text and images.
The idea is simple. Instead of staring at a blank page, you get an open canvas where you can drag in your own photos, generate visuals with AI, and even create text that matches whatever is on the board. Whether you’re planning home décor, event themes, product ideas, or even a DIY project, Mixboard wants to be the place where early concepts take shape.
You can kick things off with a text prompt or choose from pre-populated boards. Once you’re working, natural language editing makes it possible to request changes like combining images or tweaking details. Google is even introducing a new image editing model named Nano Banana to handle those adjustments.

One-click tools like “regenerate” and “more like this” let you explore variations of your ideas without starting over. And if your board includes images, Mixboard can generate relevant text automatically to keep everything consistent.
As with most Google Labs projects, this is experimental. It’s unclear whether Mixboard will eventually graduate into a mainstream product or fade away, but for now, it offers a glimpse into how the search giant is thinking about creative workflows.
