Paperless offices still sound nice in theory, but in the real world, businesses continue feeding mountains of paperwork into document scanners every day. That is exactly the crowd Epson is targeting with its newly announced DS-530X and DS-785W desktop scanners.
The two new models are built for offices that spend their days digitizing invoices, medical records, contracts, IDs, and other documents that somehow still exist in physical form. According to Epson, both scanners deliver nearly 30 percent faster performance compared to earlier models, with scan speeds reaching up to 45 pages per minute and duplex speeds up to 90 images per minute.
The DS-530X replaces the well-known DS-530 II, which Epson says has been one of its top-selling scanner models. The newer version bumps the automatic document feeder capacity up to 100 pages, which should help offices avoid constantly reloading stacks of paper during large scanning jobs.

Meanwhile, the DS-785W adds a few conveniences for businesses trying to cut down on desk clutter and simplify workflows. In addition to wireless connectivity, the scanner includes a touchscreen and Epson’s ScanWay feature, allowing users to scan directly to destinations like USB drives, shared folders, email, or cloud storage accounts without needing a PC attached.
That kind of feature may sound boring on paper, but folks working in busy offices will probably appreciate not having to babysit another workstation just to scan documents.
Epson also quietly made a move that could matter just as much as the hardware itself. The company is extending its commercial desktop scanner warranty coverage from one year to three years across the entire lineup. That expanded warranty now applies to several existing models too, including the DS-C330, DS-C480W, DS-C490, DS-800WN, and DS-900WN.
For businesses buying hardware expected to run all day long, a longer warranty can sometimes be more important than flashy specs.
The scanners also support OCR for searchable PDFs and editable Office documents, along with features like ultrasonic double-feed detection, blank page removal, and support for extra-long pages and folded documents.
Pricing starts at $399 for the DS-530X and $469 for the DS-785W. Both models are available now through Epson CapturePro resellers.
