Newegg partners with PayPal to bring AI-powered shopping experiences to Perplexity and beyond

Newegg is taking another step into the AI-driven world of e-commerce, and this time it is teaming up with PayPal. The retailer is integrating PayPal’s agentic commerce services so shoppers can discover and buy Newegg products directly inside AI-powered environments, including Perplexity. It is a pretty big shift for how people might browse tech gear since shoppers will now get Newegg listings delivered to them in real time by an AI agent instead of digging through traditional search pages.

PayPal’s system connects Newegg’s product catalog and order-fulfillment pipelines to discovery tools inside conversational AI platforms. So if someone asks an AI agent for help finding a graphics card or a new SSD, Newegg’s listings can surface instantly. Customers can then complete checkout with PayPal right inside that same PayPal-enabled environment. There is no jumping from app to app which is part of the appeal of this new agent-style shopping approach.

Newegg remains the merchant of record so the customer still keeps a direct relationship with the retailer. PayPal’s buyer-protection and fraud-detection tools stay in place which should help reassure shoppers. It also keeps Newegg visible as these AI-driven shopping channels expand. For a company that sells a lot of PC hardware to people who already rely on online research, being discoverable in AI-powered search tools feels like a natural evolution.

The move also fits with Newegg’s broader push to add AI throughout its retail experience. The store already offers AI-guided PC-building tools, AI shopping assistants, and AI-powered Q and A. Connecting with PayPal’s agentic commerce services simply extends that strategy into next-generation channels. It is also the type of move that might help the retailer stay visible as consumers shift from browsing product grids to interacting with conversational interfaces.

Newegg products are expected to start appearing inside Perplexity and other PayPal-enabled AI discovery platforms as each integration comes online. Shoppers who want to try the new experience only need to choose PayPal at checkout.
