Google is giving Chrome’s autofill a serious upgrade, adding support for more of the real-world details that people juggle every day. The browser can now fill in your passport number, driver’s license information, and even vehicle details like license plate or VIN.
This expanded “enhanced autofill” feature works on desktop and is designed to make complex forms easier to complete. Google says it can now better understand irregular form layouts and formatting differences across websites, improving accuracy.
The search giant also insists that privacy remains central. Chrome won’t store sensitive data without your explicit consent, and everything is encrypted. You’ll be asked to confirm before Chrome fills in any stored information, ensuring you stay in control.
The update rolls out globally starting today in all languages, and Google plans to add even more data types in the coming months.
