Canonical brings certified Ubuntu Linux to Qualcomm Dragonwing processors for edge AI innovation

Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, has announced that certified Ubuntu Desktop and Server images are now generally available for Qualcomm Dragonwing QCS6490 and QCS5430 processors. This follows a successful beta phase and marks an official expansion of Canonical’s support for Qualcomm’s Dragonwing platforms. The certified images come with hardened security, long-term support, and enterprise-grade maintenance, giving companies a stable foundation for deploying edge AI solutions.

The Qualcomm Dragonwing processors are built for high-performance computing, advanced on-device AI, and strong connectivity. That makes them well-suited for industrial IoT, robotics, and other edge AI applications. By certifying Ubuntu for these processors, Canonical is making it easier for manufacturers to create hardware designs that can join its certified hardware program. This program ensures production-ready quality and deployment confidence.
