SOUNDPEATS Clip1 open-ear earbuds promise comfort and clarity without shutting out the world

The new SOUNDPEATS Clip1 aims to solve a simple problem: most earbuds either jam into your ears or make you feel cut off from everything around you. These open-ear clips try to avoid both issues while still offering respectable sound.

You see, with open-ear designs keep gaining traction, this model tries to land in that sweet spot where comfort, awareness, and decent audio meet. The company pitches the Clip1 as a featherlight everyday option with Hi-Res audio and Dolby support, but what really stands out is the ultra-flexible N-Flex Arch memory wire.

At just 5 grams per earbud, you barely feel them hanging off your ears, and the clip design plays nicely with glasses, masks, and helmets. It creates a kind of low-pressure fit that should appeal to people who hate traditional in-ear tips. You also stay aware of your environment, which makes these a fit for commuting or running around town.

Audio quality is surprisingly ambitious for something that doesn’t seal inside the ear. The dual-magnet 12mm drivers with a titanium-coated diaphragm bring richer bass than you’d expect in an open-ear product, and SOUNDPEATS’ DynamicEQ Pro adjusts the sound on the fly to keep things balanced at any volume. You can switch on LDAC for higher-resolution playback and use Dolby Audio for more dramatic movies and gaming. The PeatsAudio app rounds it all out with custom EQ presets and quick toggles for the various modes.

SOUNDPEATS also leans into convenience features that try to make the Clip1 feel more thoughtful than the usual budget earbuds. AutoSense recognizes which ear you’re wearing it on, wear detection pauses playback when you take it off, and an upcoming drop-alert update will warn you before you lose one.

Calls get a boost from wind-noise reduction and AI-based background filtering, which is helpful if you take calls outdoors. Three-zone touch controls make adjustments easier, and dual-device switching simplifies juggling a phone and laptop. Gamers get a low-latency mode to keep audio synced to visuals.

Battery life is solid for an open-ear design. You get up to 8 hours per charge, around 40 hours with the case, and a quick 10-minute burst gives you an extra 2 hours when you’re in a rush. With IPX5 water resistance, they should survive workouts or a sudden rain shower without issue. And unlike some competitors, SOUNDPEATS keeps pricing reasonable.

The Clip1 sells on Amazon for $69.99, but an active coupon knocks it down to $55.99 for now, making it much easier to experiment with open-ear listening without feeling like you overspent.

  1. I had those and returned them. They are super clear for music and voice calls. I have big ears though and just could not get them to be comfortable.
