Apple has teamed up with a company called ISSEY MIYAKE (I personally never heard of it) to create something called iPhone Pocket. Picture a tiny 3D-knitted sling bag meant to hold your iPhone. Apple describes it as “a piece of cloth” that brings joy and personalization. I describe it as an accessory for people who desperately want the world to know they own an iPhone without just holding the thing like a normal person. If you’ve ever looked at your pants and thought, “These pockets are too convenient and private,” this is probably for you.
The design apparently comes from MIYAKE’s whole pleated-textile philosophy. It stretches to show your phone inside, which Apple frames as artistic and playful. Realistically, it feels like wearing a phone holster but with extra steps. The pitch here is that this thing can be worn in a bunch of ways. It can hang from your shoulder, tie to a bag, or just drape across your torso like you’re keeping your emotional support iPhone close to your heart. Apple says it “speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user.” That sentence alone explains the target audience better than any marketing campaign ever could.

It comes in eight colors if you want the shorter strap, and three if you want the longer one. The colors have names like lemon, mandarin, and peacock, and are intended to match or contrast with your iPhone color. There’s a whole universe of mix and match possibilities here, apparently. Apple talks about this like it’s a new interior decorating movement for your torso. If you have ever felt that your outfit wasn’t loudly broadcasting “I own an iPhone and I want you to notice it,” problem solved.
Of course, Apple emphasizes craftsmanship and minimalism. It is crafted in Japan and developed closely with Apple’s design studio. I’m sure it’s well-made. But the idea of a special wearable phone pocket feels like the kind of thing someone buys after scrolling social media ads at 1 AM while thinking about how to look like a cooler commuter.

It is limited edition, which means you’re encouraged to treat this like a collector’s item rather than a little stretchy bag that holds an object you already keep in your pocket anyway. This is what happens when fashion luxury world and tech brand energy meet. Somewhere, someone will absolutely buy this, put their AirPods in it, take an outfit-of-the-day mirror selfie, and feel transcendent. For the rest of us, it’s another reminder that Apple has finally retired subtlety. The iPhone is no longer a tool. It is a lifestyle banner strapped to your chest.
The short strap version will cost $149.95. The long strap version is $229.95. Available starting November 14 at select Apple Store locations and online. So yes, you can now spend over two hundred bucks for the privilege of wearing your phone on the outside of your clothes like a kindergarten field-trip name tag. If that speaks to you, I sincerely hope it brings you joy.
