WhatsApp finally arrives on Apple Watch and it’s surprisingly capable

After years of requests, WhatsApp is officially coming to the Apple Watch. Starting today, users can read and reply to messages, send voice notes, and even view media directly from their wrists without needing to pull out their iPhone.

The new app goes far beyond simple notifications. It lets users see full message threads, including long conversations that were previously cut off. You can dictate or type messages, record and send voice clips, and react to chats with emojis. WhatsApp is also adding clearer image and sticker support, creating a real messaging experience right on the watch instead of just forwarding alerts.

The app includes call notifications so you can see who is calling before reaching for your phone. It works on Apple Watch Series 4 or newer devices running watchOS 10 or later. All messages and calls remain protected with end-to-end encryption as usual.

This launch might be late, but for Apple Watch owners, it’s a big quality-of-life upgrade. For those who prefer WhatsApp over iMessage, it makes staying in touch easier when running, commuting, or trying to keep the phone tucked away.
