Micro Center today announced a new strategic partnership with iFixit that blends professional repair services with the do-it-yourself repair movement. Customers will now see iFixit repair guides, parts, and tools made available directly through Micro Center’s stores while technicians in-house will begin using iFixit equipment for their work.
“We are thrilled to partner with iFixit, a pioneer in the Right to Repair movement,” said Brad Kramer, Micro Center COO and CFO. “For over 40 years, we’ve been the destination for tech enthusiasts and builders. This partnership reinforces our commitment to supporting our customers through the entire lifecycle of their products by combining our expert, in-person service with iFixit’s tools and resources.”
The collaboration also links iFixit.com to Micro Center locations, letting customers use a store locator to find a nearby shop where they can receive a free consultation from a certified technician. Shoppers will also find more iFixit toolkits and parts on store shelves, the same gear trusted by repair professionals.
“Ownership means having the freedom to decide what happens when something breaks,” said Matt Zieminski, VP of Partnerships at iFixit. “With Micro Center, consumers can make that choice with expert service at the counter or the tools to fix it themselves. Either way, repair is finally front and center on a shelf near you.”
Micro Center operates 29 stores nationwide with a new location in Phoenix on the way. The company says this partnership will help make repair more mainstream while offering flexibility for customers who want either professional help or the independence to fix devices on their own.
