Transcend launches USD710S microSD Express with SSD-class speeds for Nintendo Switch 2

Transcend USD710S

Transcend Information has announced the USD710S, a microSD Express memory card designed to bring SSD-like performance to portable gaming. Fully compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, the USD710S pushes the limits of what a microSD card can do, delivering speeds that rival solid-state drives in a form factor smaller than a fingernail.

The USD710S uses a PCIe Gen3 x1 interface with NVMe 1.3 protocol, hitting sequential read and write speeds of up to 900MB/s and 750MB/s. That means faster game load times, quicker scene transitions, and less downtime for players. It’s also backwards compatible with UHS-I equipment, making it versatile across a wide range of devices.

Available in 256GB and 512GB capacities, the card gives gamers room for expansive libraries of AAA titles, downloadable content, and even direct gameplay capture. It’s rated UHS-I U3, V30, and A1, so it’s equally well-suited for 4K and 8K recording on drones, action cams, or AR/VR headsets. The use of 3D NAND flash ensures endurance and stability over time.

Physically, the card measures just 11mm x 15mm x 1mm and weighs a mere 0.3 grams, but its durability shouldn’t be underestimated. Built in Taiwan, it resists extreme temperatures ranging from -25°C to 85°C, along with water, shock, static discharge, X-rays, and magnets. In short, it’s made for real-world use, not just lab benchmarks.

Transcend also bundles its RecoveRx software, letting users recover deleted files like photos, music, or documents with just a few clicks. It’s a useful add-on for anyone worried about losing important data.

The USD710S is backed by a five-year limited warranty. While Transcend hasn’t yet revealed U.S. pricing or availability, it should be found on Amazon soon.
