MSI has created some pretty extreme gaming laptops over the years, but its new Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition Draco Epic might be one of the company’s most outrageous machines yet.
The first thing that stands out is the price. This laptop starts at $6,999.99, putting it well beyond what most gamers would ever consider spending on a portable PC. For that kind of money, you could build a powerful desktop gaming rig, buy a very capable laptop, and still have cash left over.
But the Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition is not really aimed at people looking for value. This is a showcase machine designed for enthusiasts who want the most powerful hardware MSI can fit into a laptop, along with a design that feels more like a collector’s item.
And unlike many limited-edition products that simply add a logo and charge more, MSI actually put some effort into the design…
The laptop is inspired by the Draco constellation and features a metal chassis with precision etching and anodized finishes. The result is a machine that looks noticeably different from the usual black gaming laptops that dominate the market.
MSI says the finishing process creates a dynamic appearance as light reflects across the etched metal surface. Based on the images, this is one gaming laptop that does not look like it came straight out of a generic gaming accessory catalog.
Of course, the hardware is where things get ridiculous. Inside is Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor paired with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24GB of GDDR7 memory. That puts the Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition among the fastest gaming laptops available.
The machine also features an 18-inch UHD+ Mini LED display with a 3840 x 2400 resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, HDR 1000 certification, and full DCI-P3 coverage. For gamers, creators, and anyone who wants a huge high-quality display, this is about as high-end as laptops get.
MSI also did not cut corners elsewhere. The Titan supports up to 128GB of DDR5 memory, includes multiple NVMe storage slots, offers Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, and comes with Wi-Fi 7.
The keyboard is another highlight. MSI equipped the laptop with a Cherry mechanical keyboard featuring per-key RGB lighting from SteelSeries, along with a haptic RGB touchpad.
Keeping all of that hardware cool inside a laptop chassis is not easy. MSI uses a vapor chamber cooling system designed to handle the heat produced by the high-end CPU and GPU.
The company is also including a collector’s bundle with a gaming mouse, mouse pad, and commemorative coin. That is clearly aimed at buyers who see this laptop as more than just a gaming machine.
The bigger question is whether anyone should actually buy one. Look, folks, at nearly $7,000, the Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition is a tough recommendation for the average gamer. A desktop will offer better upgrade options, and there are plenty of excellent gaming laptops available for far less money.
Still, it is hard not to appreciate what MSI built here. The Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition Draco Epic is excessive, expensive, and probably unnecessary for most people. But it is also a rare example of a laptop manufacturer creating something that feels genuinely different instead of just another spec upgrade.
