Logitech copies Microsoft’s terrible Surface Arc Mouse with Mobi Fold

For years, Microsoft’s Surface Arc Mouse has been one of the most divisive accessories in tech. Some people love the ultra-portable folding design, while others see it as an overpriced ergonomic nightmare better suited for looking cool in a coffee shop than actually getting work done. Now, Logitech is taking a very similar approach with its newly announced Mobi Fold mouse.

The new Logitech Mobi Fold is the company’s first foldable mouse, and it is clearly aimed at travelers, remote workers, and people constantly bouncing between airports, cafes, hotels, and shared workspaces. Logitech says the product is designed to solve what it calls the “On-the-Go Productivity Gap,” which sounds like corporate marketing speak for people being too lazy to carry a normal mouse in their bag.

Still, the concept makes some sense. Logitech says while 72 percent of professionals own a mouse, only 26 percent actually use one when working in public. The company believes traditional mice are simply too bulky to carry around comfortably. Mobi Fold attempts to fix that problem by collapsing into a flatter, pocket-friendly shape.

Like Microsoft’s Arc Mouse, the Mobi Fold transforms with a folding mechanism that automatically powers the device on when opened and off when folded shut. Logitech says the design reduces muscle strain by 22 percent compared to using a laptop trackpad. Whether users will actually find this thing comfortable during long work sessions remains to be seen.

The mouse includes adaptive touch scrolling, two customizable buttons through the Logi Options+ app, quiet-click switches, and support for connecting to up to three devices over Bluetooth. Logitech also says it works with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android, iPadOS, and Linux, which Linux users will certainly appreciate.

Battery life appears respectable too. Logitech claims a one-minute charge can provide up to 22 hours of use, while a full charge delivers up to 30 days of battery life.

The company is also leaning heavily into durability and sustainability messaging. Logitech says the Mobi Fold is drop-tested, dust-resistant, and features a hinge rated for 15 years of daily use. The Graphite model uses up to 36 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, while the packaging uses FSC-certified paper.

Personally, I have never been a fan of the Microsoft Arc Mouse. While the portability is undeniably clever, I always found the design awkward and uncomfortable compared to a traditional compact mouse. The Logitech Mobi Fold looks more refined, but I remain skeptical that folding mice are truly better than simply carrying something like Logitech’s excellent MX Anywhere series.

The Logitech Mobi Fold sells for $79.99 in Graphite, Lilac, Sand, and Off White color options. Additionally, a business-focused variant with a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver and enterprise management support costs $89.99.

Would you actually use a foldable mouse like this, or is this another overengineered gadget destined to live in desk drawers? Let me know in the comments below.
