Alright, this is actually kind of interesting. Thumbtack is now baked into Claude, the AI assistant from Anthropic, which means you can go from asking a question about your house to finding someone to fix it without ever leaving the conversation.
If you are in the U.S. and using Claude, whether on a free or paid plan, you can ask about things like repairs, maintenance, or upgrades. Instead of just getting a wall of advice, Claude can now surface actual local professionals from Thumbtack. We are talking electricians, plumbers, cleaners, contractors, the usual suspects. Thumbtack says its network includes more than 300,000 service businesses, so it is not exactly a small pool.
What makes this feel a little different is how it all flows. You describe your problem in plain English, Claude figures out what you need, and then it points you to pros that match. From there, you can jump over and hire someone. It is not fully handled inside the chat, but it cuts down a bunch of steps that people usually have to deal with.
Thumbtack’s pitch here is pretty straightforward. People are already using AI to figure out what is wrong with things around the house, so why not help them actually do something about it right then and there. It makes sense, at least on paper.
This is also part of a bigger pattern. Thumbtack has been trying to show up wherever people are asking questions, including voice assistants and other AI tools. Instead of hoping you open its app, it meets you where you already are. That is a smarter play than it might sound.
The real question is whether people will trust an AI assistant enough to hire someone based on its suggestions. Some folks will, others will probably still want to double check everything. Either way, the convenience is hard to ignore.
For now, the integration is live in the U.S. on both web and mobile. If nothing else, it is another sign that AI tools are slowly turning into something more than just answer machines. They are starting to actually help you get stuff done.
