Aura Ink reimagines photo frames with wireless e-paper display

Aura has launched the Ink wireless e-paper frame, a new addition to its connected photo frame lineup that combines the look of printed photos with the flexibility of modern technology. The 13.3-inch color e-paper display uses low-power ink-based imaging to show photos that appear more like real prints than digital screens. With up to three months of battery life on a single charge, the frame works without a power cord, allowing it to be placed anywhere in the home.

The Ink frame is built on E Ink Spectra 6, offering six base colors including white, black, red, yellow, green, and blue. Aura’s custom dithering algorithm blends these into millions of tones. A subtle built-in front light adjusts automatically to ambient brightness to make images easier to see while maintaining a non-glowing, paper-like look. The ultra-slim 0.6-inch profile and graphite-inspired finish make it suitable for walls or tabletops, and users can upload or schedule new photos using the Aura app.

Aura says the Ink frame was developed in response to customer requests for a truly wireless display with long battery life. The company’s CEO Abdur Chowdhury said the product continues Aura’s goal of making it easier for people to relive and share personal moments. The Ink frame has also earned Calm Tech Certification for reducing visual clutter and alerts, something Aura says aligns with its design philosophy.
