Samsung has announced a new 8TB capacity variant of its 9100 PRO SSD. Buyers can choose between the standard version and one with a heatsink, both built to deliver insane speed and reliability for creators, gamers, and professionals with heavy workloads.
The 9100 PRO takes advantage of PCIe 5.0, offering sequential read speeds of up to 14,800MB/s and write speeds up to 13,400MB/s. Random performance also impresses with as much as 2,200K IOPS on reads and 2,600K on writes. Samsung has moved to a 5nm controller that increases efficiency while cutting back on heat.
For those of you pushing the drive to the limit, the heatsink model provides even more thermal control during long sessions. Samsung says the 9100 PRO delivers up to 49 percent better power efficiency compared to its predecessor.

Believe it or not, this is apparently the first time Samsung is selling an NVMe SSD with up to 8TB of storage. That means more room for 8K video projects, AI workloads, or huge game libraries without worrying about space. The drive works across desktops, laptops, and even PlayStation 5, making it a flexible option for many users.
Samsung’s Magician software adds another layer of value with performance optimization, firmware updates, and data protection. Reliability is reinforced with endurance ratings up to 4,800TBW on the 8TB model and a five-year limited warranty.
Of course, premium specs come with a premium price. The 8TB 9100 PRO will sell for $999.99, while the heatsink version comes in at $1,019.99. Both will soon be available here. Smaller sizes including 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB are already available.
