Centercode has launched a new initiative called Centercode Labs, a growing collection of free interactive web apps designed for product managers, UX professionals, and developers. It’s described as “tools and toys for product people,” blending practical utilities with fun distractions inspired by the messy reality of product development. The library is live now at labs.centercode.com, with new apps dropping weekly.
The idea started inside Centercode’s engineering team during an internal hackathon meant to encourage experimentation. Instead of fading away afterward, those projects evolved into small, polished web apps that anyone can use. CEO Luke Freiler says the goal is to share Centercode’s decades of experience in testing and product design through tools that deliver quick insights or a little empathy in minutes.
At launch, Centercode Labs features three web apps: Beta Broadcaster, which helps teams quickly draft professional beta announcements; Ice Breaker, designed to start cross-team meetings on a friendly note; and Backlog Blitz, a tongue-in-cheek arcade-style survival game about sprint chaos. All three apps run in a browser and take just a few minutes to try or share.
Centercode says it plans to release a new app every week. The mix will alternate between practical “tools” that tackle real product challenges and “toys” that parody daily life in tech. The result is a clever way to make product management feel a little less serious and a bit more human.
It’s an interesting direction for a company long known for enterprise-grade beta testing software. Labs shows Centercode’s willingness to experiment in public while also reflecting how AI and rapid prototyping are changing professional learning. For anyone in product development, it’s worth a visit, especially if your team could use a spark of inspiration or just a few minutes of geeky fun.
