Keychron Q16 HE 8K is the world’s first fully ceramic keyboard with magnetic switches

Keychron is shaking up the keyboard world again with the Q16 HE 8K, a compact 65 percent model that blends art, engineering, and raw performance into something unlike anything we’ve seen before.

You see, the company claims it is the world’s first fully ceramic keyboard, with both the keycaps and body crafted from sintered ceramic material rather than the usual aluminum or plastic. That alone would be a design statement, but Keychron has gone further by pairing it with advanced magnetic switches that push tactile precision to a new level.

The ceramic shell is not just for looks. According to Keychron, it is lighter and more resilient than standard ceramics while maintaining a mirror-smooth finish that will not dull or yellow over time. Combined with the dense build and acoustic foam layers, typing feels solid, crisp, and quieter than expected. That will appeal to mechanical keyboard enthusiasts who are tired of hollow sound signatures.

Under the hood, the Q16 HE 8K uses Keychron’s new Lime Magnetic Switches featuring Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors. These allow adjustable actuation from 0.1 to 3.35mm, meaning users can tune each key to respond exactly when they want. The switches also support analog input, rapid triggers, and even dynamic keystrokes with up to four different actions per key. It is a blend of gamer speed and creator control that few boards can match.

Customization runs deep too. Keychron’s redesigned Launcher App now handles macros, lighting, and even app shortcuts through a cloud-based interface without any download required. That makes it easier to sync profiles across devices or switch between Windows and macOS instantly with the board’s built-in toggle.

The 65 percent layout keeps essentials while ditching the clutter, and north-facing RGB LEDs add visual flair with more than 20 lighting effects. Despite the smaller footprint, the keyboard weighs in at a hefty 1,060 grams, giving it a premium and unshakeable feel on the desk.

The Q16 HE 8K is now live on Kickstarter where early backers can score exclusive bundles and pricing before the retail release.
