Instagram finally comes to Apple iPad

Instagram users have begged for it for years, and today it finally arrives. The photo-sharing app has officially launched on iPad, giving tablet owners a proper experience tailored for larger screens.

The iPad version puts entertainment front and center. Instead of dropping you into the familiar feed, the app now opens straight to Reels, embracing the idea that bigger screens are perfect for laid-back video watching. Stories still sit across the top, and messaging is just a tap away, so nothing feels missing.

Ledger supports Linux, is open-source where it counts, and is battle-tested. If you’re holding crypto, you should own a hardware wallet.

Instagram has also introduced a brand-new Following tab that makes it easier to keep up with favorite accounts. It includes three views: All, which shows recommended posts and reels from accounts you follow; Friends, which prioritizes those who follow you back; and Latest, which displays posts in chronological order. Users can reorder these feeds based on their preferences.

The design takes full advantage of iPad real estate. Notifications and messages can appear side by side, cutting down on extra taps. Watching Reels feels more interactive too, since you can pull up the comments section without shrinking the video. It’s the same Instagram people know, only stretched out to fit a bigger canvas.

Instagram for iPad is rolling out globally today for devices running iPadOS 15.1 or newer. The app is free in the App Store, and Instagram says the larger-screen design will make its way to Android tablets in the near future.
