Subaru just took the wraps off its new electric vehicle, and I have to say, it looks really attractive. The 2026 Subaru Uncharted is a compact crossover with a sleek design and strong performance specs that could make it a popular choice among EV shoppers. Subaru fans who’ve been waiting for something a bit more exciting than the Solterra might finally have a reason to plug in.
Unveiled in New York City, the Uncharted is a small electric SUV that blends real-world range with sporty driving dynamics. The dual-motor Sport and GT models deliver up to 338 horsepower and can hit 60 miles per hour in under five seconds. That’s quicker than you’d expect from something this practical.
For those who want to focus on efficiency, the Premium FWD version sticks to a single motor and offers more than 300 miles of estimated range. That model will be available in limited quantities, and it’s likely to be priced lower, making it an appealing option for drivers looking to save a bit of cash while still going electric.
Subaru kept charging in mind too. The Uncharted includes a standard NACS port and supports fast charging at up to 150 kW. With battery preconditioning, it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes, even when it’s cold out. At home, the built-in 11-kW charger works with Level One and Level Two setups.
The interior is packed with useful tech. There’s a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless phone chargers, and USB-C ports for the back seat. Every trim includes heated front seats, heated mirrors, and a windshield wiper de-icer, which makes sense for Subaru’s cold-weather crowd. You’ll also get a full suite of EyeSight safety features, like adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and pre-collision braking.
The Sport and GT trims include all-wheel drive with Subaru’s X-MODE system for better grip on snow and dirt. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, and a Harman Kardon sound system. The cabin has a clean layout with orange accents and soft-touch materials. I like how it manages to feel upscale without going overboard.
In terms of size, the Uncharted is a bit shorter than the Solterra, but it still offers over 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row. The turning radius is tight, similar to the Crosstrek, which makes it easier to drive in tight spaces.
Subaru hasn’t announced pricing just yet, but the Uncharted is expected to hit dealerships in early 2026. With its mix of range, performance, and everyday usability, this could end up being one of the more compelling electric crossovers on the market. I’m genuinely excited to see how it holds up in the real world.
