Transcend has introduced the SSD475P, a 2.5-inch solid state drive designed for demanding industrial use cases. While most SSDs focus on consumer needs like gaming or office work, this one is built to keep data flowing even when things go wrong. It includes built-in Power Loss Protection, which uses onboard capacitors to ensure critical data is written properly even during sudden power failures.
That feature alone makes it an appealing option for engineers building systems for harsh conditions or mission-critical tasks. But the specs don’t stop there.
The SSD475P connects over SATA III 6Gb/s and features 112-layer 3D NAND flash. It’s available in 2TB, 4TB, and a hefty 8TB capacity. Sequential performance hits up to 560MB/s read and 530MB/s write, and for smaller, random operations it hits up to 96,000 IOPS read and 92,000 IOPS write. There’s a DRAM cache onboard to help with responsiveness, and its Direct Write firmware maintains stable write speeds even under heavy sustained workloads.
The endurance ratings are impressive, with a TBW of up to 19,830 and a DWPD rating of 2.26 over three years. Mean Time Between Failures? A wild 3 million hours.
And don’t expect this thing to tap out under pressure. It’s been tested to survive temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C, with vibration tolerance up to 20G and shock resistance rated at 15G. Power consumption stays efficient too, drawing 3.1W during operation and just 1.6W when idle.
Physically, it weighs just 71 grams and fits in a standard 2.5-inch drive bay. It’s certified for CE, FCC, BSMI, and UKCA, and backed by a three-year limited warranty.
For anyone building embedded systems, surveillance boxes, aerospace hardware, or industrial PCs, this SSD is clearly designed with longevity and stability in mind. Interested buyers can soon buy it from Amazon here. Pricing is not yet revealed.
