Calibre 8.10 arrives with smarter tooltips and important fixes

Calibre 8.10 has landed, giving fans of the popular e-book manager more control and stability. It has some important updates too.

One of the most useful changes is the ability to set custom tooltips for each column in the book list. By right-clicking a column header, you can now define a template that controls what shows when hovering your mouse.

The update also improves the MTP driver with format-specific destinations for audiobooks, something frequent users will appreciate. Keyboard shortcuts are easier to manage too, since you can search not only by name but also by the actual shortcut.

This release also clears up several frustrating problems. A bug that placed Kindle APNX files in the wrong location when sending books into subfolders has been fixed. The e-book viewer’s Read Aloud feature once again switches voices correctly when set to automatic. On top of that, markdown output works as intended after a regression in the last version broke it.

Fans of the news feature will notice better coverage as well, with refreshed sources from Harvard Business Review and Outlook Magazine.

Calibre 8.10 is available right now for Linux, Windows, and macOS.
