qBittorrent 5.1.1 arrives with bug fixes but macOS users must wait

The popular open source torrent client qBittorrent has been updated to version 5.1.1, bringing with it a batch of bug fixes and usability tweaks. But not everyone can join the fun right away. While the update is already live, users on macOS will have to wait a bit longer, as builds for Apple’s operating system aren’t ready yet.

The team didn’t provide a specific reason for the macOS delay, only noting that the builds will be “available on a later date.” For now, the updated binaries are only hosted on SourceForge. FossHub, a longtime mirror for qBittorrent, is apparently facing login problems or has locked the project’s account entirely. The developers left the situation open-ended, saying “time will tell.”

Under the hood, version 5.1.1 introduces a range of bug fixes, including better handling of wildcards, a corrected torrent ratio system, and various adjustments to the web interface. Notably, several UI elements in the WebUI are now selectable or use cleaner fonts, and IPv6-related issues were also resolved.

Linux users may be especially pleased to see fixes that target Wayland compatibility and add a fallback for the random number generator. On Windows, the installer no longer requires license agreement acceptance, which should speed up deployment for some users.

All changes in this release appear aimed at polishing the experience rather than introducing flashy new features. That may not grab headlines, but for users who value stability, it’s a welcome update.

For now, those eager to grab the new version will need to download it from SourceForge while the FossHub situation gets sorted out.
