What does Veridenz prove?
Veridenz verifies that a photo matches the exact file that was originally witnessed.
What does Veridenz not prove?
Veridenz does not prove that a scene was genuine, unstaged, or legally admissible as evidence. It verifies the integrity of a file, not the truth of what the image depicts.
Does Veridenz upload my photos?
No.
Your photos remain under your control. Veridenz does not upload your photos to its own servers.
Where is my identity stored?
Your cryptographic identity is stored securely in Apple Keychain. If iCloud Keychain is enabled, Apple may securely synchronize it across your Apple devices.
What is Nostr?
Nostr is a decentralized network used to publish cryptographically signed witness records. These records allow anyone to independently verify that a witness exists.
Can I verify someone else’s photo?
Yes. If someone shares a supported proof package with you, Veridenz can verify that the photo matches the original witnessed file.
I lost my iPhone. Will I lose my identity?
If your identity has been synchronized through iCloud Keychain, it may be restored when you sign in to another Apple device with the same Apple ID. Otherwise, it cannot be recovered.
Does Veridenz require an account?
No. Veridenz does not require you to create an account.
