Kubuntu Focus M2 Gen 6 brings Intel Ultra 9 and Nvidia Blackwell power to Linux users

The Kubuntu Focus M2 Gen 6 is now available, and it’s built to deliver high performance without compromising on Linux compatibility. Aimed squarely at developers, engineers, and power users, this latest model continues the Focus tradition of shipping hardware that’s fully optimized for Kubuntu right out of the box.

At the core is Intel’s new Core Ultra 9 275HX chip, featuring 24 cores that offer a reported 5 to 15 percent performance improvement over the last generation while consuming up to 40 percent less power. Whether compiling code, running VMs, or crunching data, the CPU is designed to handle demanding workloads with ease.

Graphics see a major bump with the inclusion of Nvidia’s Blackwell 5070 Ti GPU, featuring 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM. Kubuntu Focus says users can expect 30 to 44 percent faster graphics performance thanks to upgraded ray-tracing and tensor cores. This makes the Gen 6 ideal not just for developers and ML researchers, but also for content creators who depend on GPU acceleration.

The display has been improved as well. The 16.0-inch panel now offers a 2560×1600 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and 525 nits of brightness. With G-Sync support and more screen real estate, it’s better suited for both productivity and media consumption.

Storage performance is nearly doubled. The main PCIe Gen 5 NVMe drive can reach up to 14,800MB/s, and two additional Gen 4 slots bring total capacity up to 12TB. RAM starts at 32GB of 5600MHz DDR5 and maxes out at 96GB, providing ample headroom for intensive multitasking.

Despite all the new internals, the M2 Gen 6 manages to be lighter and thinner than before. The chassis now weighs 4.96 pounds and measures just 0.78 inches thick. A wide array of ports remains available, including Thunderbolt-enabled USB-C, HDMI 2.1b, USB-A, Ethernet, microSD, and a headphone/mic combo jack.

Security features include optional full-disk encryption at no cost and an available pre-configured Yubikey. Like all Focus systems, the laptop ships with long-term supported Kubuntu and is backed by Linux-first technical support.

For users who want serious performance without the friction of DIY Linux installs, the Kubuntu Focus M2 Gen 6 stands out as a premium solution. It’s available now here starting at $2,895.00, with free shipping to customers in the US and Canada.
