Marshall just gave its Stockwell speaker a major battery upgrade

Marshall has announced the Stockwell III, the latest version of its portable Bluetooth speaker, and the biggest upgrade is easy to understand. Battery life has been pushed to more than 40 hours, which is double what the previous model offered.

That alone makes the Stockwell III more interesting for people who want a speaker they can move around the house, bring outside, or take on a weekend trip without constantly thinking about charging it.

Marshall is also leaning into 360-degree audio with what it calls True Stereophonic sound. In other words, the Stockwell III is designed to sound full from different angles rather than forcing everyone to gather around one “best” listening spot. That could make it a better fit for parties, patios, kitchens, and other spaces where people are not sitting in one perfect position.

The speaker also includes Dynamic Loudness, which adjusts the sound depending on volume. At lower levels, bass and treble are boosted so music does not feel thin. At higher levels, things are balanced out more naturally.

Design remains very Marshall, which is probably the point. The Stockwell III has the familiar amp-inspired look, a slim vertical body, a guitar-style carry strap, metal grilles, and the Marshall logo on the front. The brass control panel has also been updated with more practical controls, including an M-button for presets and a media jog for skipping tracks.

There are some useful durability upgrades too. The Stockwell III carries an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance, so it should be fine for backyard use or a little bad weather, even if it is not something you would want to dunk in a pool.

Marshall also says the USB-C port can work as a charging bank, letting users top up a phone while streaming music. That is a small feature, but a handy one when using the speaker away from an outlet.

Another welcome detail is the focus on replaceable and modular parts. Marshall says the battery, front and back grilles, silicone sleeve, and carry strap can be replaced. That matters, because portable speakers are the kind of products people often keep for years if the battery does not become the weak point.

The Stockwell III contains 27 percent recycled material by weight, excluding accessories and packaging. It launches today in Black + Brass and Cream on Marshall.com for $249.99. Broader retail availability begins August 4.
